Discussion

[edit]

"In the Irish Calendar the month is called Meán Fómhair (literally "Middle of Autumn") and is the middle month of the Autumn season." I don't understand the function of "and" in this sentence. Wetman 06:08, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)

It is this AND that. September is called Mean Mutha and is in the middle of Autumn.

Trivia

[edit]

I just yanked these questionable trivia items...does anyone feel strongly that they belong on the September page?

Quinn Bennett?

[edit]

I have lived in Alaska my entire life and have never heard of Statehood Hero Day or Quinn Bennett.

- I just searched for any reference elsewhere on the net, not finding any besides direct rip-offs of this page. WTH? Bt109 (talk) 19:57, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

September's flower is the aster or morning glory

[edit]

I'm happy to know that, as plenty of people I love are born in 7ber. But in which country ? Citation needed ? Thanks.

P.S. the "unsourced" banner is meant to appear on the article, not on the talk page. --193.56.241.75 08:09, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

September's flower is both the aster and the morning glory. Hmm...what is with all these reading comprehension quizzes? The talk pages are only for talking about the article, not reading comprehension quizzes. And please no advertising.Rђαηα (talk) 14:40, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Autumn seems to be missing

[edit]

Seeing as 1 September marks the start of the meteorological autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, and this is something which is strongly associated with September, I have included it! Fortnum (talk) 09:35, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WW2

[edit]

Since The invasion of Poland happened in September shouldn't that be listed in Events in September? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Neosiber (talkcontribs) 10:08, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Teachers' Day in India

[edit]

If India's teachers' day is mentioned, where did the teachers' day of Singapore go? It is on the first of September. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.7.1.247 (talk) 10:41, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistencies between articles

[edit]

The intro to the "September" article states, "September was in fact the seventh month of the Roman calendar until 46 BC, when the first month changed from Kalendas Martius (1 March) to Kalendas Januarius (1 January).[2]"

However, if you follow the "Roman calendar" link in that sentence, the article there says that it is unknown when the first month changed to January -- it might have been as early as the 8th century BC, and was definitely before the Julian reform in 46 BC. Pronunciation

[edit]

The pronunciation given in the text is /sɛptˈɛmbər/ (sep-TEM-bər) where the IPA and re-spell don't match each other. The IPA should be corrected to /sɛpˈtɛmbər/. Vedabit (talk) 03:33, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Move protection

[edit]

Why does this article have move protection but the other months do not? Should the other articles receive move protection as well, or should the lock on this page be repealed? UNSC Luke 1021 (talk) 18:40, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bullet points near images should be removed

[edit]

In my opinion, the bullet points near the images of flowers should be removed as it looks strange having images next to bullet points in my opinion. Xboxsponge15 (talk) 18:50, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

An etymology section could be added. There's info on the name in English already in the article, but in other languages, like Ukrainian and Polish, September is curiously named after the local names of Calluna vulgaris. Might be some interesting information or trivia to look into other languages. Nakonana (talk) 18:11, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
